Support for purchasing gas cylinders will remain in place until the end of the year, announced the Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho. The minister also defended that the accusation that the Government is making profits from rising fuel prices is unfair.
The discount on the solidarity gas cylinder had initially been extended until September, with the executive now deciding that the measure will remain in place until December.
In mid-August, the Ministry of Environment had already announced that the Environmental Fund's resources had been reorganized to allow for a significant reinforcement of the allocation for support for the acquisition of bottled gas.
This support now has an additional 2.9 million euros, making a total of 3.7 million, with the objective of guaranteeing the continuity and implementation of the programme for domestic consumers benefiting from the social electricity tariff, taking into account the evolution in demand and the need to ensure a timely response.
