Tomar approves tourist tax and estimates collecting 300 thousand euros

The Municipal Council of Tomar approved the implementation of a tourist tax in the municipality. The measure establishes a value of two euros per overnight stay in local accommodation and hotel establishments.

According to mayor Tiago Carrão, the revenue estimate is approximately 300 thousand euros annually, calculated based on approximately 150 thousand overnight stays registered in the municipality per year.

The revenue generated by the tourist tax should be applied to matters related to the maintenance, promotion, and enhancement of tourism in the municipality of Tomar.
