The president of the Municipal Chamber of Albufeira is the target of a judicial action aimed at the loss of his mandate, after having named his sister for a position in the city council's office. The action was filed at the Administrative and Fiscal Court of Loulé.
The filing of this judicial action was confirmed by the Attorney General's Office. The process follows the appointment of a direct family member to a position in the municipality's structure.
Portuguese legislation on incompatibilities and impediments of political office holders prohibits the appointment of close relatives to positions in their respective offices. This situation falls under this legal framework.
The case now submitted to court aims to determine whether the mayor violated the incompatibility rules by appointing his sister, which could result in the loss of his municipal mandate.
