Vela Solidária was present at the Nordic RS Venture Connect Championship, held between September 4 and 6 in Saltsjöbaden, Sweden. The Portuguese team was composed of sailors Pedro Câncio Reis and Teodoro Cândido, accompanied by coach Luís Brito, with the main objective of preparing for the Adapted Sailing World Championship taking place in Portimão in October.
The competition started with particularly demanding weather conditions, with very light winds that prevented the Portuguese team from participating on the first day. Only on the second day, when the wind reached about seven knots, six races were held, in which the team achieved three wins, two second places and a disqualification resulting from a protest.
On the last day of competition, despite new wind restrictions, the Portuguese duo completed four races, obtaining a fourth place, a third place and two first places, resulting in the final classification of fourth place in the Nordic championship.
This participation is particularly important as preparation for the World Sailing Inclusion Championship, which takes place in Portimão between October 5 and 10, an event organized by the Association. Vela Solidária had the support of Portimão Municipality, Marina de Portimão, Portuguese Sailing Federation, Sea B2, Slick Hull Yacht Services, Hansa Class Portugal and Teia D'Impulsos Association.
