The Intermunicipal Community of Cávado has already intervened in more than 70 kilometres of forest paths since May, using a tracked vehicle to carry out the works. The operation is currently taking place in the municipality of Barcelos, after having previously passed through the municipalities of Terras de Bouro and Vila Verde.
The works include the cleaning and regularization of existing accesses, as well as the opening of new paths. The intervention also covers the creation of new access infrastructure to the forest areas of the region.
This action is part of a prevention and protection strategy against rural fires, guaranteeing better access conditions for firefighting and civil protection forces in the forest areas of Cávado.
