The Portuguese Government is preparing an agricultural diesel bonus to curb the impact of rising costs on food. The Minister of Economy described this situation as "particularly concerning", warning about the severity of the problem.
According to the information released, farmers have no room to reduce diesel consumption in their activities, which makes the situation particularly difficult for the sector. The increase in diesel costs directly affects agricultural production costs.
The agricultural diesel bonus measure should be announced "very shortly" by the executive. This initiative comes in the context of a significant increase in production costs in the agricultural sector, which threatens to be reflected in food prices for the final consumer.
