The Benassal festival unites several generations of bullfighters from Castellón in memory of Josele

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General7 September 2026 at 16:24

The traditional bullfighting festival in Benassal had a special edition this year, dedicated to paying tribute to José Emilio Ibáñez García, known as "Josele", a silver bullfighter who passed away unexpectedly last year. The event managed to bring together several generations of bullfighters from Castellón in a gesture of recognition to Josele's memory.

The festival's lineup was composed exclusively of bullfighters from the Castellón region, representing different generations and also including cattle breeders from the area. All participants committed to the objective of honoring Josele's memory, whose kind and generous character allowed him to gain many friends in the bullfighting world.

The economic benefits generated by the festival were entirely destined for the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Castellón, thus demonstrating that the event combined bullfighting tradition with a charitable action in memory of the deceased bullfighter.
