APROSERPA – Association of Farmers of the Left Bank of the Guadiana – met this week with the Vice-Presidency of CCDR Alentejo and its technical services, at a meeting where it presented the dryland farming accounts. The association brought this issue to the regional administration and demanded answers from the government.
The farmers represented by APROSERPA are particularly concerned about production costs in the dryland sector, which includes crops such as cereals and pastures largely dependent on climatic conditions.
The association announced it will be present next Monday at a protest against fuel prices. This participation falls within the context of a broader set of claims from the regional agricultural sector.
APROSERPA now awaits concrete answers from the government regarding the issues raised, namely concerning the economic viability of farms on the Left Bank of the Guadiana.
