Madalena Costa makes gold debut at Europeans

Madalena Costa, world and European champion, debuted today at the 2026 edition of the European Artistic Skating Championship with a gold-medal performance. The competition is taking place in Ponte di Legno, Italy.

The Madeiran skater, who represents Sporting Club Santacruzense, competed in the free skating discipline in the senior category. Costa completely dominated the short program among the 21 participants.

The athlete received the highest score awarded by the juries present, earning a total of 91.05 points. Second place was taken by a Spanish skater, who achieved 83.23 points.
