The European Union will invest an additional 200 million euros in Greenland and reinforce cooperation with the territory. The announcement was made by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during an official visit.
This investment comes in a context of strengthening relations between the EU and Greenland, an autonomous territory belonging to the Kingdom of Denmark. The amount represents a significant increase in European support for the region.
During the announcement, the President of the European Commission emphasized that only the Danes and Greenlanders have the legitimacy to decide the island's future. This declaration comes at a time when questions about Greenland's autonomy and political status have received international attention.
