Bernardo Trindade's candidacy for the presidency of the Confederation of Tourism of Portugal (CTP) has managed to gather statements of support corresponding to approximately 60% of the electoral universe of the confederation, covering different tourism subsectors and the national territory. Among the supporters are representative hotel associations, such as the Portuguese Hotel Association (AHP), APHORT, AHETA and ADHP, as well as rent-a-car associations, casinos, golf, resorts and chambers of commerce. At the regional level, these include ACIF-CCIM from Funchal, ACISO from Ourém-Fátima and the Chamber of Commerce of Angra do Heroísmo.
At the business level, major hotel groups such as Pestana Hotel Group, Vila Galé Hotels, SANA Hotels, Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon, NH Hotels and Solverde Group declared support for the candidacy. Companies from other areas linked to tourism also expressed support, including ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal, SATA Air Açores, Ibersol Group, DouroAzul, Estoril Sol and Lisbon Cruise Port.
The candidacy is currently in a phase of direct contact with CTP members, with visits planned to the Algarve on September 18th, to Porto on September 21st and subsequently to Lisbon. The meetings aim to address specific issues of each activity and region, as well as cross-cutting concerns for the sector such as competitiveness, investment, human resources, accessibility and value growth.
The list for the governing bodies of CTP and the candidacy program will be presented after the period of contact and consultation with members. The candidacy states that it assumes an aggregating orientation, seeking to involve different sectors, territories and sensitivities of the confederation, with the aim of reinforcing dialogue and cohesion within CTP.
