The Municipality of Carrazeda de Ansiães will fully assume the annual animal health quota for livestock producers in the municipality, through a financial support of up to 15 thousand euros to the Animal Health Defense Group of Carrazeda de Ansiães and Vila Flor. The measure covers the costs of mandatory sanitary prophylaxis actions, corresponding to 15 euros per bovine and 2.60 euros per small ruminant.
In 2026, it is estimated that the support will cover approximately 100 bovines and 3,105 sheep and goats, belonging to 62 livestock farms. The municipality also allocates five thousand euros to ensure the functioning of the structure responsible for the monitoring and execution of animal health actions.
With this measure, the Municipality aims to relieve the costs borne by producers, ensure the sanitary monitoring of livestock herds, and contribute to the protection of animal health and public health. The support has been maintained by the municipality since 2018, in a measure that recognizes the importance of livestock farming for the rural economy and for the maintenance of small family farms in the municipality.
