The Teachers' Union of Madeira considered the placement of teachers a "disaster." The union organization reported that approximately 200 teachers were hired for the start of the school year.
This number represents a significant difference compared to the previous year, when approximately 400 teachers were placed. The reduction was thus about 50 percent.
The union also warned that the number of students continues to increase, which worsens the situation. The lack of hired teachers could affect the quality of education in the region.
