Higher technical-professional courses, created ten years ago in Portugal, continue to face demand problems. More than half of the students who complete these courses choose to continue their studies toward a bachelor's degree, raising questions about the effectiveness of these courses in the professional integration of graduates.
Over the past decade, the number of enrolled students in these courses has increased, showing some growth in interest in this type of training. However, despite this increase, a significant portion of the available places continues to go unfilled each academic year.
This situation suggests that higher technical-professional courses have not yet managed to fully establish themselves as an attractive alternative within the Portuguese higher education system, frequently remaining a bridge to continued academic studies rather than a final qualification for the labor market.
