RTP Notícias7 September 2026 at 14:30

UEFA announced it will pay tribute to the victims of the floods that hit Nepal on August 26. The tribute will consist of a minute of silence and the display of a solidarity banner before Champions League football matches.

The European football organization took the decision to commemorate the Nepal flood victims during its flagship club competition, demonstrating solidarity with the South Asian nation during its time of mourning.

The floods in Nepal caused a significant number of fatalities and extensive material damage, receiving international attention. UEFA responded to this tragedy with a symbolic gesture in the context of European football.

This is not the first time UEFA has paid tribute to victims of natural disasters during its sporting events, maintaining a tradition of demonstrating international solidarity in moments of tragedy.
