The Preserved Village of Quintandona, in the municipality of Penafiel, hosts on September 18, 19, and 20, 2026, this year's edition of the Caldo Festival, one of the most emblematic cultural events in the Vale do Sousa. The event brings together traditional gastronomy, rural heritage, and strong community participation.
The initiative is organized by CASAXINÉ – Association for the Promotion and Cultural Development of Quintandona, with the direct involvement of the village inhabitants through voluntary work. Over three days, visitors from across the country are invited to walk through the streets of Quintandona, taste traditional broths and other local specialties, and discover the preserved architectural ensemble that has established the village as a cultural tourism destination.
More than just a gastronomic event, the Caldo Festival stands as a celebration of community identity, associativism, and the practices that shape village life. The organization reinforces that the event continues to be a moment of gathering, sharing, and celebrating the people who bring Quintandona to life.
The initiative reinforces Quintandona's role in valuing rural traditions and revitalizing the cultural scene of the municipality of Penafiel, keeping alive a tradition that has become a regional benchmark.
