The Public Ministry filed charges against a 43-year-old woman and her 42-year-old partner, both suspected of 49 crimes of sexual abuse of a 13-year-old minor. The young girl is the defendant's daughter, while the partner is the girl's stepfather. The facts allegedly occurred over approximately two years, at the family home.
The man is also accused of allegedly having tried to lure a second daughter of the partner, who was only 9 years old. This additional charge will further aggravate the defendants' criminal liability.
The case was investigated by the Public Security Police, which collected sufficient evidence to support the Public Ministry's accusation. The two defendants will now answer in court for the crimes they are suspected of.
Sexual abuse of minors is a serious crime punished with severe penalties in the Portuguese legal system, especially when committed by people who hold authority over the victim or who cohabit with them.
