The union expressed concern about prison security, two years after the escape from Vale de Judeus. The escape from that prison was marked as one of the most significant prison incidents in the country.
According to the union, the security vulnerabilities at Vale de Judeus remain unaddressed. One of the highlighted failures is the inoperability of the surveillance towers, which do not function properly.
This is not the first time the union has raised these concerns. The prison authorities reportedly have not yet implemented the necessary measures to correct these vulnerabilities.
The alert comes at a time when prison security continues to generate concerns, both for professionals in the sector and for the entities responsible for prison administration.
