Portugal registers third largest employment rise in the European Union

Portugal recorded the third largest employment rise in the European Union during the second quarter. This growth placed the country among the highlights of the European labor market in the period analyzed.

Employment in Portugal grew both compared to the same quarter of the previous year and in relation to the first three months of 2026, showing a positive evolution trend in two distinct time indicators.

This result positioned Portugal favorably among the European Union member states in terms of job creation, demonstrating a performance above the EU average in this economic indicator.
