The project "Meno(s)Pausa+Movement" won the 1st prize at the 20th Anniversary Commemorative Meeting of USF Valongo, which took place on Friday at the Forum Cultural Vallis Longus in Valongo. The initiative was distinguished for bringing together health professionals and the Municipality of Penafiel to support women going through post-menopause with more health, exercise and quality of life.
The responsible team is composed of Francisco Santos Coelho, from ULS Tâmega e Sousa, Emília Alves, from the Municipality of Penafiel, and the internal residents of General and Family Medicine Mariana Ferreira Rocha, Carina Rocha de Sousa, Helena Isabel dos Reis and Maria Freitas. The project focuses on promoting active aging through monitored physical exercise in a community setting.
The proposal seeks to address the changes that can occur during post-menopause, placing physical exercise as a tool to improve physical condition and contribute to healthier aging. The follow-up is done in a community setting, allowing the practice to be adapted to the needs of participants, crossing different areas of health to promote the well-being and quality of life of these women.
