The Visão Caxiense program, in the city of Duque de Caxias, has already delivered 3 thousand pairs of free prescription eyeglasses since August, destined for patients with a prescription for visual correction. Since the beginning of activities, in June, the program has performed more than 12 thousand ophthalmological appointments. The goal is ambitious: to deliver 33 thousand eyeglasses over the next 12 months.
The initiative aims to strengthen the municipal health network and reduce the demand for ophthalmological care at the Municipal Eye Hospital. The services offered include consultations, exams, early diagnosis, and specialized treatment, including cataract exams, bringing care closer to the population.
The program is itinerant and travels through different neighborhoods of Duque de Caxias. Currently, the appointments take place in the external area of the Municipal Hospital of Imbariê, in the third district, Monday to Saturday, from 8 AM to 4 PM.
The services are destined exclusively for patients regulated by the Municipal Health Department, and scheduling is done through this regulation system.
