The GNR detected 79 infractions for lack of mandatory periodic inspection during a road enforcement operation carried out in the district of Santarém, between August 31 and September 6. This was the main infraction identified among the 550 total infractions registered during the operational activity.
The remaining infractions included 55 cases related to conditioning and disposition of cargo, 23 for lack of insurance, 22 related to tachographs and 20 for lack of lighting and signaling. There were also 20 infractions registered for problems or irregularities in tires, 19 for improper use of mobile phone while driving, 14 for lack or incorrect use of seat belt and/or child restraint system and 10 for speeding.
During the same period, the GNR registered 111 road accidents in the district of Santarém, which resulted in seven seriously injured and 45 slightly injured. The operation also resulted in 38 arrests, of which 20 were for driving under the influence of alcohol or without legal qualification to drive.
