Mota-Engil signs 207 million dollar contract for work on gas project in Mozambique

Mota-Engil signed a contract worth 207 million dollars, equivalent to approximately 176 million euros, through its subsidiary Mota-Engil Africa and in consortium with the Italian company Bonatti. The contract was awarded to develop initial works in Area 4 of the Mozambique Rovuma Ventures project, led by ExxonMobil, located in the province of Cabo Delgado, in Mozambique.

According to the statement sent by Mota-Engil to the Securities Market Commission, Mota-Engil Africa holds a 50% stake in the consortium. The works, designated as "Early Works", will be carried out on the Afungi peninsula and include earthworks and infrastructure construction.

The contract also includes the construction of the second phase of the Pioneer Camp, the Operational Camp and complementary structures, as well as the operation and maintenance of the constructed camps. The execution period is 27 months, with immediate start of works.

With this award, Mota-Engil reinforces its order book in Mozambique, a country it considers to have great growth potential. Mozambique Rovuma Ventures is responsible for Area 4 of the Rovuma basin, where natural gas resource development projects are planned. The contract was announced by the company in a statement dated September 7, 2026.
