More than 270 thousand passengers were affected by changes in air traffic caused by the eruption of the Anak Krakatoa volcano, in Indonesia. The presence of volcanic ash will prolong the closure of seven airports, including Jakarta's, the country's capital.

Anak Krakatoa is located in the Sunda Strait, between the two most populous islands of Indonesia, Java and Sumatra. The volcano resumed activity last night, after hours of apparent calm that followed Friday's eruption.

The Indonesian Ministry of Transport is monitoring the situation and coordinating the response measures to the air crisis caused by the eruption.
