The 86-year-old former queen of Denmark, Margrethe II, was hospitalized on Sunday at Rigshospitalet. The monarch was admitted after being diagnosed with a new blood clot in her hip, in addition to dehydration.
The blood clot in the hip represents a concerning health condition, especially in a person of her age. The hospital authorities decided to keep her hospitalized for medical monitoring and appropriate treatment.
Due to the hospitalization, the former queen will not be able to participate in the funeral ceremonies of King Harald V of Norway, scheduled for September 9. This is a significant absence at an event of high diplomatic and dynastic importance in the Nordic region.
