An Amazon cargo plane ran off the runway while landing at Miami International Airport in the United States. The aircraft crossed a perimeter fence, struck vehicles on the ground and caught fire, generating a large column of dense smoke and flames visible from a distance.
The accident resulted in five deaths and five people injured. The victims include aircraft crew and people on the ground who were struck by the vehicles hit by the plane during the incident.
U.S. federal civil aviation authorities, the FAA and NTSB, are already investigating the causes of the accident. The case is being treated as one of the worst aviation accidents at Miami airport in recent years.
Amazon's cargo operation was temporarily suspended at the airport's air platform while emergency teams worked at the scene and investigations continued to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
