TAP: Government extends deadline until end of year to complete privatization

The Portuguese Government has extended until the end of the year the deadline to conclude the privatization of TAP, the country's flag carrier. The decision comes in a context of the need to guarantee new conditions for the conclusion of the sale process of the airline.

With this extension, the Executive allows new negotiations to be resumed with potential buyers interested in TAP. Among the main candidates mentioned are the airline groups Air France-KLM and Lufthansa, which had already expressed interest in the process.

The privatization of TAP has been a sensitive topic in Portugal, with the government seeking to find the best path to guarantee the future of the airline and simultaneously attract investors. The new deadline allows more time for the parties involved to reach a satisfactory agreement.
