The Vitória SC handball team achieved a secure home victory after losing in the opening round against Belenenses. The team coached by Nuno Santos took control of the match from the start and built a comfortable victory against the Vila Nova de Gaia side, earning their first three points of the season.
The standout player of the match was André Alves, author of 11 goals, proving decisive in the Vitória attack. Also noteworthy were António Machado, with seven goals, and Luís Fernandes, who contributed six goals to the conquistadores' victory.
In the remaining matches of the round, Marítimo defeated Ginásio de Santo Tirso 32-20, Benfica triumphed in Póvoa de Varzim 37-30 and Águas Santas defeated Belenenses 31-28. The match between ABC and FC Porto was postponed to September 30, as the dragões competed this weekend in the Iberian Super Cup.
In the next round, Vitória SC returns home to face a tough challenge against the national champions Sporting.
