Tennis player Rui Tavares, athlete of the Tennis Section of Associação 20 Kms de Almeirim, won his first official singles title by conquering the VIII End of Holidays Tournament at the Clube de Ténis de Torres Novas, in the under-18 category. In the final, Rui Tavares defeated João Pedro Marques, from Jaime Caldeira Tennis Academy, by the scores of 6/0 and 6/4, thus securing the champion's trophy.
Before reaching the final, the young man from Almeirim demonstrated dominant performance during the group stage, defeating Bernardo Vilanova, from Clube Recreativo e Desportivo Brasileiro Rouxinol, by 6/0 and 6/3, and Samer Sattut, from Clube de Ténis de Torres Novas, by 6/0 and 6/2.
The VIII End of Holidays Tournament was held on September 5th and 6th and was part of the official calendar of the Portuguese Tennis Federation as a level C event, contested in the under-14 and under-18 categories. The competition was organized by Clube de Ténis de Torres Novas.
