A volcanic eruption in Indonesia caused the suspension of air traffic at eight airports in the country on Sunday, causing major impact on air travel in the region.
About 1,558 flights were delayed due to the suspension measure, directly affecting passenger transport in Indonesian territory.
As a result of the interruption of air operations, approximately 170 thousand passengers were stranded at airports, unable to continue to their destinations.
The natural event forced authorities to adopt the suspension of air traffic as a preventive security measure in response to volcanic activity.
