The Niterói city government prepares a new phase of interventions at Praia do Sossego, located between Piratininga and Camboinhas, in the Oceanic Region of the city. The beach has about 120 meters of sand strip and is in the process of candidacy for the sixth consecutive time for the Blue Flag certification, which evaluates criteria of environmental quality, safety, infrastructure, and environmental education.
The technical studies for the works are in the final phase, with the bidding scheduled for later this year. The preliminary project contemplates interventions from the arrival at Rua da Graça to the path leading to the beach sand.
Among the measures foreseen in the project are the reorganization and qualification of access, installation of interlocking paving, stainless steel guardrails, lighting, monitoring cameras, urban furniture, signage, support structures, and new lifeguard posts.
