Housing: Lisbon is the second city in the world where luxury rents rise the most

SAPO7 September 2026 at 10:51

Lisbon occupies second place worldwide in the ranking of cities where luxury rents have increased the most. According to consultancy Savills, rents in the luxury segment in the Portuguese capital surged 7.6% in the first half of the year. This growth places Lisbon among the cities with the highest appreciation in the top housing market.

In the international ranking, Lisbon surpasses European cities such as Madrid and Paris, coming only behind Cape Town, in South Africa, which holds the first position. This prominent position reflects the strong demand for luxury housing in the Portuguese capital.

The Savills study analyses the evolution of rents in the luxury segment across various global cities, taking into account factors such as international demand, supply scarcity and local economic conditions. Lisbon has been attracting investors and high-income residents, contributing to the pressure on prices in this market.
