Solidária Vela finished in 4th place at the Nordic RS Venture Connect Championship, held from September 4 to 6 in Saltsjöbaden, Sweden. The Portuguese association was represented by sailors Pedro Câncio Reis and Teodoro Cândido, accompanied by coach Luís Brito, in a competition that served as preparation for the next major goal of the season.
The competition began under difficult weather conditions, with very light winds on the first day, which affected the running of the races and prevented the Portuguese duo from competing. On the second day, with the wind reaching about seven knots, six regattas were held, in which the team secured three first places and two second places, while also recording a DSQ following a protest.
On the final day, after a start again affected by the wind, four regattas were contested, with Pedro Câncio Reis and Teodoro Cândido achieving a 4th, a 3rd, and two first places. In the end, the Portuguese duo finished in 4th place in the overall standings, in a very competitive fleet and in a battle for the podium that lasted until the last race.
The participation in the Nordic Championship was part of the preparation for the World Sailing Inclusion Championship, scheduled for Portimão between October 5 and 10, a competition that Solidária Vela itself will be responsible for organizing this year. The Portuguese team had the support of the Municipality of Portimão, Marina de Portimão, the Portuguese Sailing Federation, Sea B2, Slick Hull Yacht Services, Hansa Class Portugal, and the Teia D'Impulsos Association.
