The Portuguese company Biovance invested four million euros in the Spanish biotech Vaxdyn. The Portuguese investment led a funding round totaling 11 million euros for the Spanish-based company.
Vaxdyn is developing vaccines targeted against bacteria that are simultaneously highly pathogenic and antibiotic-resistant. This research area is considered a priority in global health, given the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance.
Biovance's investment comes in the context of a broader effort to strengthen the development of biotechnological solutions in Europe to combat bacterial infections that are difficult to treat with traditional methods.
