Nepal raised today to 1,355 the number of dead and maintained at 4,996 the number of missing resulting from the flood that devastated entire settlements near the border with Tibet (China). The disaster occurred in the Katmandu region, where villages were completely destroyed by the floodwaters.

Nepalese authorities continue to carry out rescue and search operations for survivors among the rubble of the affected settlements. The number of missing remains high, suggesting that the death toll may increase significantly in the coming days.

The flood hit residential areas near the border with Tibet, a region that is part of China. The natural phenomenon caused large-scale destruction, turning entire communities into zones of catastrophe.
