Mortgage foreclosures in the province of Castellón have soared and reached the highest value in five years. This data contrasts with the positive trend observed in other economic indicators in the region.
The situation is considered contradictory because, simultaneously, late payments by households, businesses, and self-employed workers in Castellón are decreasing. Furthermore, household debt relative to GDP reached, in the first quarter of 2026, the lowest record since 1999.
This means that, although the people of Castellón are in a better overall financial situation than in recent decades, the number of people losing their homes due to inability to pay their mortgages continues to increase, reaching levels not seen in five years.
