João Gordo returned to the Rock in Rio Supernova stage this Sunday (6) to perform a tribute to the Ramones, playing the New York band's self-titled debut album released 50 years ago. This was his second performance at the festival, after performing with Ratos de Porão in 2022. The singer, one of the pioneers of national pop rock, performed classics like "Blitzkrieg Bop," "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," and "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" for the audience watching under heavy rain, accompanied by the psychobilly trio Asteroides Trio.

João Gordo remembered the four times he played with the Ramones, including when Ratos de Porão opened for them in 1991. According to him, the invitation was a memorable moment: "When they invited us, for me it was like a heart attack," he declared. The musician also told an anecdote about getting stopped by São Paulo police alongside his idols, mentioning that when he arrived at Dama Xoc, the Ramones were being approached by Rota, São Paulo's Military Police.
