Cargo Boeing 767-300ER veered off runway at Miami International Airport – Fire contained

A Boeing 767-300ER cargo plane, registration N1997A, overshot the runway at Miami International Airport at around 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 6. The aircraft came to rest within the airport perimeter after crossing an internal road and being stopped in a parking lot.

The plane was operated by 21 Air and was performing a flight for Prime Air, on behalf of Amazon Air, having departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico. After leaving the runway, a fire broke out on the aircraft, which was immediately controlled by firefighters who rushed to the scene.

Airport authorities confirmed the incident through a statement. The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) issued a NOTAM announcing the suspension of air traffic at Miami Airport until further notice.

Fire and rescue teams remained at the aircraft. Authorities acknowledge there may be injuries but are waiting for more concrete information before commenting on the matter.
