The Socialist Party proposed the return of Zero VAT on a basket of essential food goods. The measure aims to mitigate the impact of the increase in the cost of living on Portuguese families.
In parallel, PS presented a proposal to reduce VAT on fuels and bottled gas from 23% to 13%. This reduction aims to ease the burden on consumers with energy and mobility costs.
The proposal was presented in the Assembly of the Republic, where the debate on support measures for families facing inflation and the general increase in prices took place.
According to the initiative, Zero VAT on food should be in effect for a period of three months, with the possibility of renewal, depending on the evolution of the country's economic and social situation.
