Confraria dos Sabores Poveiros marked its first presence at the Póvoa ao Ar Livre event, on September 4th and 5th, by accepting the invitation extended by the Póvoa de Varzim City Council to animate the space. The confraternity set up a tent next to the Lota Auditorium, where it promoted the most emblematic flavors of local gastronomy.

The invitation came through president Andrea Silva and was accepted by the new president of the confraternity, Rodrigo Moça. Under his leadership, the entity presented sardine rice, a replica of the one that was prepared several years ago and became known as having been the largest sardine rice in the world. In addition to this dish, the team also served fish soup, receiving excellent feedback from visitors.

Rodrigo Moça highlighted the dedication of the entire team involved in the initiative and considered that the participation constituted an important opportunity to promote the Póvoa gastronomic identity among residents and visitors. The mission of the confraternity is precisely to preserve and promote the traditional flavors of Póvoa de Varzim, showcasing emblematic dishes such as Póvoa-style hake, Póvoa-style French toast, skate, sardine tapas with bull's heart, fish soup, and more recently, sardine rice.

According to the responsible party, the confraternity takes Póvoa gastronomy to various locations across the country to promote traditions and what best represents the city and its strong connection to the sea and fishing. The complete report was published in the print edition of September 9th.
