The fire that hit Serra d'Ossa is in its conclusion phase, having mainly affected forest and scrubland areas in the municipality of Redondo. The incident caused no injuries or damage to homes, although mop-up and surveillance work continues in the area.
The firefighting operation involved 303 operatives and 112 resources, including four tracked vehicles. The response mobilized a coordinated operation between the municipalities of Estremoz and Redondo, fire brigades, security forces, civil protection agents, forest rangers, municipal teams and volunteers.
To support the operations, the two municipalities jointly provided 300 meals for the firefighters. The Municipality of Estremoz was responsible for preparing 150 meals, with collaboration from the School Grouping of Estremoz for the food supplies and the Festivities Committee of the Exaltação da Santa Cruz for supplying roast chickens.
The Estremoz town council highlighted that the joint intervention allowed the protection of populations and property in an area of particular environmental and territorial importance for both municipalities, thanking all professionals, volunteers and citizens who contributed to the fire response.
