A pitbull named Pirata was shot in Complexo de Israel, area dominated by criminal Peixão, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The incident happened this Sunday (6), when the animal escaped from home and was roaming the streets of the community. According to residents, the dog charged toward a child, which caused the shot to be fired at the animal, which ended up being hit in the snout.
The animal was rescued by residents of Cidade Alta and taken to the Municipal Veterinary Hospital São Francisco de Assis, in Irajá. According to the Municipal Secretariat for Protection and Defense of Animals, the dog presented intense bleeding. At the hospital, the veterinary team performed a surgical procedure to remove the caliber 40 projectile from the animal's snout.
