The National Republican Guard (GNR) and the Maritime Police clarified today that no migrant landing is confirmed on a beach in Sesimbra, Setúbal district, contradicting initial indications that around 30 people would have landed during the night.

The authorities issued a joint statement to clarify the occurrence at Praia da Foz, in Aldeia do Meco, in Sesimbra, where a rubber boat is believed to have come ashore.

After the initial information was received, searches were conducted by sea and land in the indicated area, but the results of these operations did not allow confirming the veracity of the alleged migrant landing.

The joint statement from the GNR and the Maritime Police comes as a public clarification to correct the information that had circulated about the supposed incident during the night.
