An alert about the possible landing of 20 to 30 migrants led the GNR and Maritime Police to intervene this morning at Praia da Foz, in Aldeia do Meco, in Sesimbra. The motivation for the alert was the presence of a rubber dinghy that had washed ashore on the beach.
The authorities launched search operations both by land and by sea to try to locate the migrants mentioned in the alert. However, the searches carried out did not confirm the presence of any migrants in the area.
The vessel found was a rubber dinghy, and although the migrant landing hypothesis has not been confirmed, the authorities do not rule out other possibilities for the boat's presence. The GNR and Maritime Police acknowledge that the vessel may be linked to drug trafficking or fuel smuggling activities.
