The Municipalities of Montemor‑o‑Novo and Cuba formalized an Intermunicipal Cooperation Protocol that strengthens the proximity between the two Alentejo territories. The agreement recovers the memory of the Alentejo Railway Line and the railway connection between Casa Branca and Cuba, using this historic connection as a symbolic and strategic axis for new forms of collaboration between the two municipalities.
The protocol establishes a joint agenda in several areas, including culture, youth, sport and valorization of the territory. The objective is to promote initiatives that bring together local communities, cultural agents, associations and sports teams from both municipalities.
This intermunicipal cooperation arises as a way to boost the two territories through shared actions, taking advantage of the legacy of the former railway connection as a common identity element that can serve as a basis for the development of new partnerships and joint projects.
