'I married a man on death row and two weeks later he was executed', says widow trying to prove rapper's 'innocence'

British woman Tiana Krasniqi has made proving her husband James Broadnax's innocence a personal obsession. The 37-year-old American rapper was executed on April 30 at a prison in Texas, United States. Broadnax had been convicted for the shooting deaths of two men, Matthew Butler and Steve Swan, outside a music studio in Dallas in 2008.

Tiana began her relationship with the convict by exchanging letters with him in prison for over two years, as part of her research for a master's degree in international human rights law. What started as a formal exchange of messages eventually evolved into a deeper relationship.

The two got married in prison on April 14, just two weeks before the execution. The ceremony was modest, lasting about 20 minutes, and both had to exchange vows behind protective glass, since Texas state law prohibits direct contact with death row inmates.

Despite the thousands of kilometers and the bars that separated them, Tiana ended up falling in love with the convict and decided to marry him a few days before his execution, becoming a widow shortly after the marriage.
