Frances Connolly won approximately £115 million, approximately R$ 860 million, in the EuroMillions lottery in 2019, along with her husband Paddy. Before the prize, she worked as a social worker and teacher, living a very different life from the one she knows today after the lucky prize.
Since winning the jackpot, Frances estimates she has allocated approximately half of her fortune to institutions and social projects. The decision to share the money with others became a central pillar of her life after the million-dollar prize.
One of the major inspirations for how Frances began dealing with wealth was Dolly Parton, the iconic American singer who passed away in August 2023, at the age of 80. The artist was known for her generosity and philanthropic work.
Together, Frances and Paddy created the PFC Trust, an institution focused on funding projects in Northeast England. Among the initiatives supported are programs to combat loneliness among the elderly, emergency food distribution, and the purchase of equipment for underserved communities in the region.
