Nuno Rogeiro, analyst of international affairs, commented on the elections in Germany and the diplomatic developments related to the war in Ukraine. In the podcast "East/West", the specialist analyzed the position of the AfD party (Alternative for Germany) in the German and European political context.
According to Rogeiro, the AfD cannot be properly described as a pro-Russian party. However, the analyst warned about the existence of an internal faction within the party that may be controlled by Russia, which raises concerns about Russian influence in German politics.
In the context of diplomatic developments surrounding the conflict in Ukraine, Rogeiro referred to the visit of US special envoys to both Moscow and Kiev. These meetings represent significant diplomatic efforts to try to find a resolution to the conflict that has been ongoing for more than two years.
Rogeiro's analysis comes at a moment of particular relevance for the European political landscape, given the AfD's growth in German polls and the intense international diplomatic effort to end the war in Ukraine.
