Mangueira and Mocidade Independente do Alto da Boa Vista defined their sambas-enredos for the 2027 Carnival in the early hours of this Sunday. Mangueira will present "Oyá" as its theme, while Mocidade bet on Latin America as the topic of its presentation. The two samba schools from Rio de Janeiro's Special Group ended their musical competitions at their respective rehearsal yards.
The Mangueira samba-enredo final featured the presence of Daniela Mercury, who was one of the main voices performing the winning composition. The champion song is authored by Lequinho, Júnior Fionda, Gabriel Machado, Orlando Ambrósio, Guilherme Sá and Paulinho Bandolim. Interpreter Majur, who recorded the other finalist samba, also performed live during the stage.
The samba that placed second at Mangueira is by Arlindinho and company. The day before Mangueira's event, Portela had already defined its samba-enredo paying tribute to Monarco. Mangueira's winning samba was described as strong and fast-paced, with Lequinho being a well-known name in the community.
