First Government of the Azores generated great expectation and sought to affirm autonomy

The first Regional Government of the Azores took office 50 years ago with great expectation from the Azorean population. The former president of the Regional Government, Mota Amaral, recalled this historic milestone today.

The main objective of the I Regional Government was to affirm the autonomy of the Azores. This was a significant achievement for the region, which gained greater capacity for self-governance.

Mota Amaral, who led the regional executive, commented on the importance of this moment for the Azores. His intervention served to recognize the significance of the creation of the autonomous government five decades ago.
